History - In the 1840’s a missionary settlement founded the town that would later become Forest Grove, Oregon. On January 10, 1851 after a meeting of the Tualatin Academy trustees, they named their community West Tuality Plains. Now called Pacific University, the college has always been the most significant part of the town. Forest Grove began as a tiny farming town, and now is a small suburb of Portland, Oregon. The residents of Forest Grove, Oregon are primarily families and college students.

Barber Shop Quartet Annual Competition Portland, Oregon 97205 The annual contest held in early spring was established in 1847 by the Gleemen of Forest Grove, Oregon. Today the competition draws national attention and has been given the nickname “ballad town” Founders' Day Corn Roast Every September four tons of locally grown fresh corn is consumed at this annual barbeque. The Chamber of Commerce is always in attendance as well as numerous local clubs.
